The service dog that recently has completed its education and the new owner must learn to work together. An essential part of the transfer is therefore to teach the service dog to obey its new owner, particularly since the dog learns during its education not to obey strangers.

A service dog also needs some time off once in a while. When the cape is taken off it can run freely and play with other dogs.

It is not pleasant for the owner of a service dog if people stop to say hello to the dog. The dog may be excited and happy, but for the disabled person it may mean loosing control.
